Rosario
Rosario, Northern Samar is a former barrio of San Jose that became an independent municipality in 1969 through Republic Act No. 5867, spanning 5,160 hectares across 11 barangays with a population of 10,949. Dubbed as Northern Samar's crab capital, Rosario thrives as the aquaculture capital of the entire province, housing almost half of its total brackishwater ponds to supply mud crabs, crab eggs, and various fish across the Visayas and Luzon. The town celebrates its water bounty every June through the Kinis Festival, where locals showcase crab-inspired dances and prepare crabs boiled, steamed, grilled, or cooked with veggies and coconut milk. Key destinations include Binuga Hills and Camping Site in Barangay Ligaya (located an hour from the town proper and surrounded by wide greenery and ocean views), the therapeutic Medicina Hot Spring, and dining spots like La Mezza Grill and Seafood House.
