Pambujan
Pambujan, Northern Samar is a coastal municipality spanning 15,500 hectares across 26 barangays with a population of 35,532. Historically known as "bayog" (a Bisayan term for a person embodying a unique gender expression, as well as a tree valued for construction and pottery repair), the town is home to natural treasures like the 500-hectare Nalucaban Peatland in Barangay Cabari-an – Northern Samar's only identified peatland and a crucial carbon sink sheltering species like the Philippine Duck – and the Caohagan Island, a refuge featuring pristine beaches and vibrant coral reefs. Spiritual and historical landmarks include the towering 17-meter Statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus atop Kankinaway Hill overlooking the Royale Palm Resort Hotel & Business Center, and the St. John the Baptist Church, built by Franciscan missionaries between 1896 and 1897 with a 58-year-old bell. It is also known for its homegrown bamboo furniture and rattan crafts like traditional salakot headgear, Pambujan is also famous for its deep love of baseball – immortalized by the championship legacy of the "Nalucaban Kids" at the Kamagsangkay Sports Complex – and local delicacies such as kunot (a peanut, rice, anis, and sesame treat exported globally) and malunggay polvoron.
