Catarman

Catarman, Northern Samar is a bustling first-class municipality spanning 28,540 hectares across 55 barangays with a population of 97,879, serving as the province's economic, administrative, and transportation hub which is situated on the northern coast of Samar Island, it houses the Provincial Capitol, national government offices, major banks, cafes, shopping centers, and health and educational institutions, most notably the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP)—the first state university in Eastern Visayas, which evolved from a farm school and features facilities like the RAB Amphitheatre and iconic Academic Building. Beyond its urban bustle, Catarman offers also some historical and spiritual landmarks like the Our Lady of Annunciation Cathedral (constructed in 1596 by Jesuit missionaries), coastal retreats such as UEP White Beach Resort and Langtaran Grove White Beach Resort just 10–15 minutes from the town proper, and vibrant cultural celebrations every August during the Catarman Town Fiesta and Tarum Festival. Accessible directly via Catarman Airport with flights from Manila or Cebu, or land and sea routes via Allen Port or Lope de Vega, and also closest to the cities of Calbayog, Catbalogan, Sorsogon, Masbate, Legazpi, Albay, and Borongan.
