Allen, Northern Samar โ known as the vibrant gateway to Eastern Visayas โ is a bustling municipality covering 4,750 hectares across 20 barangays with a population of over 25,000. As the commercial center of the Balicuatro area and the nearest point of arrival from Luzon via Matnog, Sorsogon, it features three operational ferry ports (Dapdap, Jubasan, and Looc). Beyond its strategic transit role, Allen offers impressive natural attractions including the towering rock formations at Imaga Beach, Cabacungan, and the San Bernardino Strait โ which is rich in marine biodiversity, and powdery white-sand beaches. The town is also rich in historical landmarks, such as the Gabaldon Ruins with its WWII cannon relics, local delicacies, particularly Pili nut treats and Kinagang.
How to get there?
To reach Allen, catch a minibus departing from the Catarman Land Transport Terminal, or drive along the Pan-Philippine (Maharlika) Highway if you are traveling from elsewhere in Samar or Leyte. Visitors coming from Luzon can easily cross over by taking a ferry from nearby Matnog, Sorsogon, directly to the ports in Allen. Once you arrive in the town proper, you can navigate and explore the local area by hiring a tricycle or a habal-habal motorcycle.
